To my eyes, it looks like an E Class, and not in a good way.

I like the softened down edges. Previous CTSs were just too angular in my opinion.
Its stance reminds a bit of the Brougham Sedan de Ville (or whatever it was called) that James May drove on the Top Gear US Special.

No, it isn't. It is very boxy and has a long hood; it reminds me of the old school Caddys and other American cars of the 60s through 80s.
