Poll: do you follow the Tour de France?

Well the Tour de France is already in the second week, and I was just wondering if anybody follows it. I do so because in The Netherlands cycling is one of the most popular sports. And I was wondering how popular it is in the US since the ultimate champion of the Tour de France is a real Texas ranger: Lance Armstrong.

Well, we're heading for the Pyreneeen (I just spelled it of Dutch, not knowing the english name ) and I honestly hope to see some nice attacks of Rasmussen and the whole T-Moblie team!!

Sow, how about you?!?! You follow the Tour, or you just aren't interrested??

Greg LeMond inspired me to start cycling back when he was in his prime and I've sort of followed it ever since though I no longer ride my bike regularly. Probably interest here in the states will return to zero after this year since Armstrong will no longer compete.

    same here.

in the US the only TV coverage is on Premium cable which i dont have. I do watch the 1-hour weekly-reviews on CBS though.

its a bitch when they show sports programs on channels you have to pay for.

there are ways to get around it of course though.........
many of these tricks can be seen being used in poland

Well, the 2nd in the ranking is just 38sec behind so it might just get close...

I watch OLN (Outdoor Life Network, here on cable) as often as possible during the day, I got hooked last summer when I had nothing to do and I turned it on. To be honest though, I'll probably be much less interested after Lance retires.

Here's a question that has provoked some heated arguments between myself and my friends: would you consider Lance Armstrong one of the (if not THE) greatest athelete in the world? My friends claim that other sports players could do what cyclists do, and that many cyclists could not play other sports. However, my friends have never watched any Tour coverage and so do not comprehend the terrain which the Tour covers.
Before you answer, think about everything Armstrong has done, including his battle against cancer - I think just beating that and going on to do what he has done puts him at the top.

lance is probably best athlete in the world IMO. They cover 100+ miles a day on bikes uphill... just to illustrate his resting heartrate is 30 bpm, if your doctor saw that was your heartrate, hed most likely think you were in a coma (similar stuff has happened) and his max is about 200bpm... that f***ing incredible

No, I don't like it. And I really hate Jan Ulrich. Every time I see him, I could smack this idiot in the puss.
