    http://vote doesn't lead to anywhere

EDIT: I took the liberty to fix your links, the one in the General Comp also linked to vote.

henk, you should really consider keeping you're photos in a higher quality or atlist when posting in the competitions posting in a higher quality, It really ruins the pictures which im sure look better then the versions you post here
I am easily satisfied with the very best.

I am bound by the 800-600 limit. What would you advise for resizing?

well that's a given, but I dont remember when was the last time that I resized one of my pictures to 800*600 and ended up with picture size of less then 70Kb. what program are you using ?

a freely available one, either Irfanview (this time) or Microsoft Office Picture Manager.(comes with XP)

Edit: "somebody" resized the pic, using photoshop.

well, I'm not femiliar with irfanview but i know that the XP default program uses the lowest quality settings and it cannot be changed. If you are using photoshop to resize then you should opt for Quality - 10 or higher and keep the DPI above 72...

I use ifranview to edit large batches and, when set on the highest quality level, I think it works good.
For single pics to add my name I use Pshop.

Photoshop is very slow, at least on my [not so new] computer... But it is a great program anyway.
BTW, for resizing your pics you may use Paint - I sometimes do The problem is that you won't know what size you will finally get - you are proposed to change the size in percent rates.

paint reduces the quality of the photo... Just take a photo, don't change anything and save it with paint. It will go from 1mb to something like 100kb

I only use paint for labeling.
