    Renault Alpine A 110-50 Concept

The Alpine Berlinette turns 50 this year and, to mark the event, Renault has created a concept car named Renault Alpine A 110-50, dedicated to performance and driving enjoyment.

So what’s in a name? In some cases, the heritage of a name is like a national treasure – and that’s certainly true for Alpine. Its DNA blends Renault’s sporting passion and technical expertise.
    • The Renault Alpine A 110-50 concept car translates the most characteristic design features of the original A 110 in a modern and spectacular way.
    • The carbon-fibre bodywork features a new shade of blue which refreshes and reinterprets the famous original ‘Alpine Blue’.
    • Produced with the renowned expertise of Renault Sport Technologies, the Renault Alpine A 110-50 concept car is imbued with the world of motorsport. It benefits from the experience gained from the Mégane Trophy race car by using the same technical platform.

That's just plain horrible. It doesn't look like A-110, it doesn't feel like an A-110, it's has silly retroness and it trying to shamelessly pillage on the Alpine name, history and tradition.

    Kill it with fire.

Well it does fit in the whole Renault strategy, first the re-used (trashed in my opinion) the Gordini name for just a some blue paint and a white stripe.
And now they made a sort of Audi R8 concept car and named it after there beautiful Alpine. I think they are just lost.

Under pinning it is a mid engine V6 driving the rear wheels.
So ALPINE DNA is there much more than any Renault
Only think I think they need to dump is that funny bulge on the side.
The homage to the 110 in the front is clever and yes "retro" but at the same time modern and different.

It's been made clear this wont be a Gordini ( or "RenaultSport" ) type of mess and IF they do hold true to that and allow Alpine to define and control it as in the past then it will definately be a car to challenge the Lotii, Nobles, future cheap Mac etc

Aren't RenaultSport models built on Alpine's old Dieppe factory? I think that's as close as you'll get to an Alpine these days...

I'm sorry but this silhouette race with a Nissan engine doesn't cut it. And it especially doesn't because it is badged as a A-110, a car which clearly doesn't represent. If it was a A-710 or something maybe, but not as an A-110.

Oh and by the way, it seems like it's merely a Renault DeZir concept car with some spoilers and the Nissan engine. So much for this so-calles Alpine revival...

It is just a DeZir with a new colour scheme and a spoiler. A bit disappointing...

Many people may have heard of Caterham, a curious little business in England that makes contemporary copies of the iconic Lotus Seven. The company has announced a brand new Caterham sports vehicle is in the works and it's going to be entirely bespoke, as the learner is quickly becoming the master.

em, Caterham have been doing their own suspension and chassis design for decades.
All there is of an original se7en in the look alikes design is the basic look
    "curious little" made me smile

Guess I'm spoiled by so many race cars and series in the UK not televised for all to see.
