Ferrer, what's the engine in your car? and what is your highway speed?

Did a long tour with the Puma club last weekend.
Pumadrivers Gelderlandtour

Total mileage: 504.1 km
Fuel used: 40.78 Liters
Average: 12.36 km/Litre (8.09L/100km)

Of this distance 200 km relaxed, efficient highway driving and another 200km I want to be home fast driving, slightly over the limit (around 130km/h). The rest was stop-start traffic and slow touring at an average of 50km/h i'd say..

1.4 litre normally aspirated 16 valve four cylinder (109bhp).

I refuse to go any slower than 150km/h there. I was looking at the instant fuel consumption readout in the trip computer yesterday and it is clearly where it suffers more. Fifth is short (about 34km/h per 1000rpm) and it doesn't help at all. A relatively small and underpowered engine in big(ish) and heavy(ish) car doesn't either.

7,96l/100km (35mpg UK / 30mpg US).

I doubt I can go any lower than this without drastically reducing my speed. My cruising motorway speed now sits between 140km/h (87mph) and 150km/h (93mph).

Two consecutive fuel tanks in pretty much the same conditions over the same roads have yielded this results: 9,0l/100km and 6,6l/100km. I think there's something no quite right either with the gauges, the trip computer, the fuel tank or the fuel pump at the station...

Also, both front lights died and had to be replaced. Result? 60€...

First tank I have measured in the little white hairdressers dream went up to 9,3l/100km (30mpg UK / 25mpg US).

I'm pleasantly surprised.

Just finished the third tank of fuel in my freshly-rebuilt Porsche 356 hotrod. It's 1886cc on an SC case, crank and cams, heads/valves are stock. Gonna have to re-jet the Webbers, plugs have fouled twice in the past two weeks and mileage is just 17mpg. Should be +/-24mpg.

Is that the same quad cam motor you ordered a while back?

Adding injector cleaner to the fuel once a month showed an improvement to 35mpg (US) for a couple of weeks.

No, this is an SC pushrod engine on carbs so injector cleaner ain't gonna help... it's a jetting issue. Probably won't get around to installing the Polo4 until we've figured out a gearbox for it... maybe by March. Plus we'll have to go to 12v which I wanted to avoid.

The Polo4 is 2.2 liter and runs 40mm Webbers, too.

Last three tanks in our new Kia: 34,7mpg (6,29l/100km). Lots of highway driving though. Commute runs around 28-30mpg (7,8-8,4l/100km)
