what stops me from buying this over a XR6 SV6 ?. drive-train. place a little wrx evo magic under the bonnet and i'm sold!.
interestingly , some of the fastest Touring Car class e30's ever were the aussie touring car ones .
longest use & development period
awesome , sounds mean to have the aussie 5.0's against the dohc euro 8's
for the supercars to interest me , it needs to be a Falcon GT coupe against the Monaro . for me too , as it is , its the battle of the taxis
doesnt the CTSV (LS9) hold the 4 door record for Nurburgring ? love the look of the CTS & would own one in a shot

probably the only individual on ucp that gets what i am on about.
"Since the VXR8 doesn't actually have any competitors in the UK, perhaps they should simply have said it is in a class all by itself."
bravo, amen, praise the lord, i will drink to that. hopefully the penny might drop for a few others.
your right , the post i quoted wasnt directed to me
but theres still no need for it . the regualrs here are generally reasonable adults . we "get" what your on about , but dont feel the need to comfort your opinion & can see how its not the "ultimate golden truth"
this is the internet . being disagreed with doesnt automatically equal a personal insult , & doesnt deserve them as replies
Wheels has been accused of this in the past. However, I think they are a bit Volkswagen biased if anything at the moment. The odds on favourite to win the 2010 Car of the Year is the VW Polo. If the Polo does win it mean mean VW wins the award two years in a row. All comparison tests involving VW seem to go VW's way. Also, most Ford v Holden tests in the last few years have gone the way of the FG Falcon. So, I'm not sure that Wheels is all that Holden biased.
I guess the M3 would be quicker on a track.
At least the high depreciation of the BMW 740iL means that they become more affordable after a few years for those willing to take a considered risk on a used Euro luxury car compared to a new Aussie or Euro executive sedan.
As to what justifies the depreciation? Nothing I can think of - and like new Fords or Holdens it is best to let someone else take the initial depreciation hit.

The Italian V8 Superstars is for production based cars. Other than the wings and a few light mods they are relatively standard. The Chevrolet Lumina (aka Commodore SS-V) runs the production car's 6.2-litre V8.
Give these cars more power (say 500-550kW) and let them run the same suspension/wheel set-ups as the V8 Supercars, and it would be the way to go for Australian Touring Car racing.

so i would say to you my friend, there are those on here that love the antagonistic keyboard hero type of life that they live, they get a kick out of it, and they scoff at being responded to by someone not unlike myself. you cant go crying to your mum after being bitten by a dog that you have just spent half an hour stirring up.
i presented a few credible arguments in relation to the vxr8, and its certainly not the 'ultimate golden truth', as you put it, but merely my perspective. i would suggest though that theres an elite club of strokers on here that love to rev people up just for kicks, rather than actually consider what the ucp member has to say, or, god forbid, respond with something on a similarly considered level.
disagreement i can do, motorsportnerd and i have been butting heads throughout this thread, its keyboard heroes that have never been to a car show hiding behind the anonymity of the internet that i have an issue with.
LPG or petrol?
yeah it looks like a lot of fun - the cars are more relatable too, being production based - i hope the local series takes some pointers from it.
definately, but key point here is the bolded part
the VXR8 is not a premium car, but your viewpoint definitely seems skewed by factors that honestly not really relevant to the car - esepcially with this model being UK specific and thus 'unsullied' by the local demographic..
i mean sure, i'd take an M3 any day over the SS.. just not if it was my money.
lol
