Hey! What if I was an amputee?!?
I've got 3-pedal cars... Sportos aren't slushboxes, though. Manual with hydro-operated clutch. Very slick, 0-100 quicker than standard 901.
Vic Elford proved their performance and durability by winning the 1967 Nurburgring 84 Hours “MARATHON DE LA ROUTE” with one.
Thank you, unknowing non-collector types . Porsche built only 227 911S SWB Sportomatics, and the number of Targas is a fraction of that. A rare car. Unfortunately, now that we've got it and done a full inspection, it's complete alright. Complete with frightening rust.
But the engine is correct & matching, the drivetrain not bad for 93K miles, the one-year-only interior bits in decent shape.
Sheetmetal costs are reasonable, but more complicated than my welding skills to consider DIY. Given it's rarity I'll do
the right thing, but restoration $$$ will likely be considerably more than anticipated.
Which is why it's a sickness.

It was presented with many photos, and because my wife liked that it was an S version of her T, more of an implulse purchase. Private seller, not a Porsche guy, we discussed the pics showing the bad, but even he didn't know what the PO had covered up. So no PPI, something I preach to anyone considering a collector car. Yes, I am an idiot.
I didn't get my pants pulled down on the purchase, but it's gonna cost $$$ to make right.
My rational is the thing's genuine rarity. Humor me.
Since so much will need to be done, there's no excuse not to build it as an R Gruppe hotrod.
Never own more cars than you can keep charged batteries in...
lesson learned..

being and enthusiast requires not to be rational for a good portion of your time.

In what will likely become a weekly event (provided the music is good and my pay stays at a tolerable level) it's time for another installment of "what's IB4R rocking out to".
Miike Snow's self titled album Comes across as a delicious addition to the field of modern electronic trickery coming from Northern Europe. and indeed the album is slick and, with some very decent rhythms, works well within the genre.
Vocals are fed through various filters and while this is successful in achieving atmosphere, there is a disconnect within the rest of the album that Burial in particular worked very hard to reel you in and capture your heart. The lyrics might frustrate /B/ users though...just a heads up.
I mention this song as it's in my top 10 for the year - a gorgeous, harmonic, rising, marching ballad that is at once incredibly sad and soothing. Animal would make my top 50 (I guess it's because I'm a mopey bastard and like my music a bit....broken hearted) but again I think it's the combination of marching beats and gorgeous harmonies that seperate these guys from your average electronic group.
As it stands the rest of the album is fairly forgettable. "in Search Of" is a decent driving beat but I can't for the life of me remember any of the lyrics or rhythms on the rest of the album. None of them stick in my mind like Burial.
Am I disappointed? well yes, but when the band loads there best 4 tracks on the front half of the album you get to the understanding they should have just released an EP.....
5/10 on the Regi Scale.

If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.
