I think there is definitely a time and a place for a sports sedan, though I start drifting away when they begin shooting past the two-and-a-half ton mark.
I have to say, I like sports saloons. They are like bigger hot hatchbacks, but the good thing is that thanks to being bigger quite a lot of them are rear wheel drive.

If I can liken them to girls, the hot hatchback is the good looking girl. The sports saloon is the good looking girls that also knows how to capitalise her assets properly.

Well, something more sedate. The looks on this are boy racery. Youthful. If I am a youth, I want two doors. If I am an adult and want space and speed, I'd prefer a Chevy SS and maybe a fun summer car.

Unfortunately the Maxima got watered down and bulked up; there's no longer a mid-size, mid-priced sporty sedan out on the market. Mazda 6 and Ford Fusion come kinda close. Sorta. But it would be nice for a car with the spunk of a WRX in a more mature, grown-up package with maybe only a small markup.

Insignia OPC? Altough the silvery bits are a bit conspicuous to me...

Alternatively, just go for the standard choice: The BMW 3 Series. If you have little money go for an entry level version.

Yeah...except I really don't like BMW's, besides, that's a class up from what I was referring to. Starting about $10k above regular midsize cars, it's not really in the same league. And we don't get the Insignia here.

Hmm...that's getting closer. Not a car without its flaws, but I do like the Regal.

I rocked the Vauxhall Insignia with 2L diesel and auto in Scotland. It was a pretty good car I must say.

The 2.0l turbo isnt bad. If they put it on the cad ats platform it would really rock the block. Maybe next design cycle?

Oh wait, this is gm we are talking about...

I drove a few Austrian girls, other than that only an early 90s GTi...

Curiously enough they don't get the V6 Turbo we do get and with the recently unvelied facelift the power of the GS has been reduced, so it's not the same car as the fairly uninteresting Insignia 2.0T.

It's already available, with 276bhp. It's the only engine coming to Europe.

So, ATS and Regal share the same platform? I don't recall it so, but haven't looked it up. Auto Journos have been foaming at the mouth with praise for the ATS as a BMW 3-series equal, much less so for the Regal...generally positive but not matching the excellence of the ATS.

Nope. One is front wheel drive and the other rear wheel drive.

They do share the 2 litre turbo engine, though.
