Oh screw it, I was talking about the continent that exists now called Oceania which consists of the previoulsy stated and New Zealand, in the US this continent is called Australia.

Is this what is taught in schools over there? Being that New Zealand belongs to continental Australia?!?!

I'm sure our (fiercely independant) Kiwi cousins will be delighted .. NOT!

My Atlas lists seven continents thusly:

• Asia
• Africa
• North America
• South America
• Antarctica
• Europe
• Australia & Oceania

So if one chooses to ignore modifiers like "North" or "South," or the obvious fact that Europe and Asia are a single landmass, than the fact can be considered correct.

actually Europe was named after Europa, form Greek mythology origins. Some languages turned it into Europe (French, English) but many still call it Europa.....(like one of the moons of Jupiter)
