man those cars are really rare, and thats sad. because that is one of the most beautiful cars in the world by my opinion.

I have some more pictures of GTC's. The blue GTC was photographed by myself in Essen at the 'Techno Classica' this year. The other one in the next post I saw at the 'Interclassics & Topmobiel' at the MECC in Maastricht in january of 2007. It had to be completely restored.

Read an article about this car in german's magazine "Motor Klassik" a couple of months ago.
That it's a beautiful car is evident. But they blamed very bad torsion-resistance in comparison with the coupe. What's your experience?

Hello Allemano,

I regret that I haven't been able to drive a GTC up to now! I did however notice that the GTC, that I have seen being restored, had quite a lot of extra strenghtening panels behind the seats, under the floor and in the area of the rocker panels of the car. What they did to the stability of the car I can't tell.

Unfortunately, the GTC you brought in evidence, although looking quite nice, does not fit perfectly with the original details of the GT Cabriolet. The front grille, for instance, is that typical of the sister car Giulia GTV. This is not acceptable for a vintage car proposed at a very high price (almost Euro 50.000!)

From 1964 throughout early 1965, the Giulia GTC was equipped with a central shield in the front grille similar to that reported in the picture given below (notice only six horizontal small bars under the Alfa Romeo - Milano emblem!).



This shield - at that time - was the same of the coupé version of the Giulia Sprint GT. Starting from the end of 1965, a front grille shield showing seven small horizontal bars was unified for all Giulias GT, GTC and GTV (see picture given below, where a GTC and a GTV are compared).



Today, it is almost impossible to find the very early version of the front central shield for Giulia GT/GTC! We can only find on the market few original shields of the later version (after 1965) even if at high prices.
Nevertheless, the grille as a whole was ever different in GTC and in GTV.

thank you, yes I do remember the earlier grille on the GT too, but I got the initial impression that the GTC grille was also different to that one, but obviously it is not.

Thanks for the reply and the explanation on the 6 and 7 bar shield. I include a picture in the next post of a 6 bar shield. What other details are not correct according to you?

Dear Olaf,

I would absolutely not seem an all-knowing little professor! However, if I am called to single out some evident inconsistencies shown by the restored Giulia GTC proposed on the web site of Anamera at Euro 49500, the following details must be underlined:

1) the wheel cups are those suitable fot the Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce 2nd Series (see below Fig. A) but not compatible with the Giulia GTC;

2) the dashboard in simil-wood is that of either the Giulia Sprint GT 1300 Junior (Fig. B) or the Giulia GTV (Fig. C), while the Giulia Sprint 1600 GT/GTC were equipped with a rough-surface dark grey plastic dashboard;

3) the camshaft cover was not satin-finished black in Giulia GTC but rather satin-finished silver

Hello Olaf and all friends interested in the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTC,

The car whose some pictures are given below is a very strange "golden" 1965 GTC for sale in Rimini (Italy) at Euro 36.000! Both body colour and upholstery are not corresponding to any choice among those offered by Alfa Romeo! Nevertheless, it is very difficult to say whether this car underwent an after-sale preparation by the owner(s) or it was originally sold as an overpriced special order.
