Aston Martin (not so) suprising new car

Yes, Aston Martin has launched a new car. Excited? Let's see what they have prepared for us.

For a start it's called the V12 Vantage. I think you can probably see where this is going. Exactly it's a V8 Vantage with a V12 engine. But it's worse than that. Because it has the rear spoiler from a 1988 Ford Orion and you don't want in you massively expensive exotic supercar. Oh and let me just say that this is, it seems, a concept car. Come on Aston, for a concept at least you could change the shape a bit or something.

What does misitfy me is what the hell they need one of these. Unless it's a new photocopier because the old one died of overuse. Probably.

EDIT I bet the next concept car is going to be a DB9 V8. After all they have a DB9 bodyshell and a spare V8 laying around...

I like Astons for their looks and performance and all, but they all seem to be the same car after a while. I'm sure I can spot the difference between a Vantage and a DB9 and a DBS, but the DB9 and DBS are so similar. The DBS is really just a smushed DB9. It does get boring after a while. Doesn't mean I like Astons any less. It just seems so indestinguished.

If all I had done was looked at the picture, I would be oblivious to the fact that this is in fact a new car.

I like it. V12 in a light Aston usually = win. Plus, people don't complain this much when Porsche changes their headlights and adds a 1 to their 993/6/7

True, Porsche only plays around with the styling a little bit and changes the engine outputs around.

It’s a gorgeous design, why mess with it? As stated Porsche have retained the basic shape for 100 years and the Aston is a better looking car in my opinion than that. They kept the basic design through DB4 (58) to DB6 (69) so again subtle changes are all that are needed. Classic marques don’t go around making huge changes.

So Aston Martin's solution to fixing the complaints about a lack of HP in the Vantage is to ruin the balance of the car? Heaven forbid they join the party and start to get around 100hp per litre like Ferrari, BMW, Audi, Lambo and a bunch of other companies have.

    Sarcasm.

Since when have ferrari upset the balance of their cars by too much power? same goes for porsche, lambo and "others" as you put it.

A quad-cam V12 on a car made to ride with V8 may make for a pretty nose-heavy car.....

True, but also a longer, heavier V12 in a shorter car, which means the whole Front-mid enigne aspect, and the handling that goes with it, is bound to be affected. I liked the Vantage because it was the Aston that rode and handled well, this looks like a backward step in that respect.
