Alfa Romeo 8C Spider v Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder

Since there was a bit of debate in the Alfa thread, I thought this might be a question worth asking. Which is better looking?

If for some reason you live under a rock and don't know how they look:

The Ferrari. It has the freedom to look better as it was designed before any of the laws that have diluted the stylists ability to draw pretty cars. The Alfa is very good looking for a modern car, but it's compromised.

compared to the Alfa the Ferrari will drive like a truck, and is not really suitable for modern everyday traffic, but for a tour along some nice and lonely winding road, the California will be THE experience. Difficult to vote therefore...(and if you can afford one, you can normally afford both, so that helps...)

I now noticed that only looks were asked to be considered, makes it more easy, the California....

This is a hard comparison, both are strikingly beautiful. I don't know its so hard. I think I would choose the Ferrari.

As I said in the 8C Spider thread, the Alfa is challenging the 250 GT California as the most beautiful spider ever, but the Ferrari still wins.

I really, honestly do not think the 250 is in the same league as the 8C spider. Probably because im not attached to it by any nostalgia or Ferrari fanboyism

You're just young and perhaps a bit ignorant...

How can I be ignorant on this matter when it's comparing looks and I have pictures of both cars right in front of me?

Admit it, you love the Ferrari because it's a Ferrari

    PREPOSTEROUS TALKS!

I'm equally biased toward Alfa, keep in mind Alfa's were the first to bear the Cavallino Rampante!

Wrong. If you don't mind giving up things like ABS, power windows, power steering, you could drive that California as an every day car. Easy brakes, easy clutch, easy shifter, plenty of torque through the range, great heater, hardtop seals it well. There's people who drive Porsche 356s and Jag E-Types every day and the Cali is at least as good as those.

You should also specify SWB vs. LWB and open vs. closed headlight.

First I said: Compared to the Alfa...and secondly, my point of reference for daily traffic is the Western European situation, which in my experience is slightly less convenient than California...
Last year I was on my racing bike, riding along Como Lake when I got overtaken by a blue SWB California, (which looked vaguely familiar). On a road like that I would prefer the Cali. It also came as no surprise that the car headed north from Como, and did not venture out into the direction of the city center.....

You know what I haven't voted yet. Maybe, just maybe Alfa has bettered the Ferrari masterpiece.

    And that's quite an achievement.

based on looks alone, without the historical implications involved, the alfa is a more beautiful car.

however, i woudl take the ferrari over it any day.
