Problems with my BMW. can anyone diagnose?

So heres the deal. recently, (today) when i was out driving i noticed some vibration upon accelerating. so i turned everything off and listened while i accelerated from a stop a few times. it seemed like it wasnt "catching" the gear for a second. it kind of shook as if it was trying to catch up to it. i tried this in manual mode except i started in second to see if anything changes. it does the same thing. because of this, i dont get the acceleration i used to until a few seconds of pressing the gas pedal.

does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? im stumped... and worried

It could be the clutch? or even the diff?

    Computer?
I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.

Since he said "I tried putting it in manual mode" I'm assuming its an automatic so that rules out that problem. You could take it to a local independent BMW mechanic to have them check it out or you can ask around on BMW forums (i.e. bmwcca.org) there are really helpful and knowledgeable people there. Good luck!

well we used to have the same problem with our BMW
it walso had an automatic gearbox and they said they had to send the car to a specialist who makes those things these kind of problems hardly ever occur with an BMW but the computer can be a problem

Was it overrevving for the speed you were going? Like the clutch packs or torque converter were slipping? Was it unusually hot yesterday? Has anyone else driven the car recently? Does it do it only in first gear?

    More infos needed.

no it was only acting like it was jumping in and out of the gear for the first 2 or 3 seconds. and no overevving, more like underevving. and only in the gear i started in.(i switched to second and it did it but only if i started out in it.

but like i said, i had no problem today. maybe my transmission fluid is low?

If it's an intermittent problem, then something could be failing soon.

...or you just need to add some transmission fluid...
