Once upon a time they owned Lambo too.
EDIT: What is this Rootes Group?
How the less-mighty-than-Ford-and-GM have fallen.

by the 70s Chrysler would be bleeding money, so that ~5 years after acquiring Rootes, but when they bought Rootes initially, they were riding high.
I love being a Wikipedia expert on everything.

Nissan has been trying to work a deal to badge the Ram as a Titan for quite a while, so I could see Nissan buying up the trucks division (which also comes with an exclusive contract with Cummins for engines and Mercedes-Benz for transmissions)
Are you trying to imply I have a polarized opinion?
I don't have a polarized opinion.
Ok maybe a bit. Well possibly a lot...
But there's a difference. I'm right.
The Rootes reference makes me think of something else.
Is (will be) GM the American British Leyland?

probably you remember of the Fiat-GM broken marriage.
GM bought the 5% of Fiat, and was supposed to buy the whole thing in some years. obviously the couldn't. they were also supposed to develop petrol engine and chassis, while the Fiat Group was supposed to develop diesel engines and transmissions. GM developed some chassis, while the petrol engine were...a V6 Holden under an Alfa Romeo bonnet, and some crapy 1.8/1.9 and 2.2 petrol engines. Fiat developed al the current diesel line-up used in Eu by the GM's brands, apart from the Isuzu V6 3.0.
the final thing that "ruined" the happy marriage was the fact that GM wanted to use Fiat diesel engines on Daewoo (now Chevrolet in Eu and NA, or GM Daewoo in Korea and somewhere else) but without the agreement of Fiat. there was a rule in the pre-marriage contract which stated that ant technology to be used on a third party could be used so/sold just with the agreement of both parties. at that time, iirc, Daewoo wasn't onwed by GM. Gm purchased Daewoo so to fix the problem, but it was too late. some minor sharing is still going on, especially with Suzuki which isn't a GM's company anymore.
sort of.

Hyundai buying Jeep from Chrysler? The results of that purchase would be very interesting.
