i guess with such close stats, it all comes down to the styling. I'll take the bimmer.

the stats on paper might been pretty close, but they are 2 very different car!
The prosche is a GT and the beemer is more like a road-racer...

    i'd take the porsche!

    @jones.dk

I think i have to disagree. The Porsche is not a Grand Tourer to me.
IMO they are both what you call "road-racers"...

When you factor in that the standard M3 is only slightly slower than the CSL, and realise that the CSL costs 47% more than a standard M3 the context shifts slightly.

Only something like a Pagani Zonda or Maybach would be a worse investment than the CSL (Pagani looses £1000 ($1860) of its value every week).

At the moment, you'd probably be able to sell a 997 on for a profit, and then I'd buy something more interesting.
    Thanks for all the fish

I agree, I'd get the Bimmer for the same reasons. The Porsche is just another 911 to me.

The Porsche. A 911 2.7 RS would pleasure me more though. Oh, and the original M3 was fantastic, better than this CSL.

Porsche. I can't stand that yuppie BMW image, as good as the car may be. Plus like someone said, I could probably sell the Porsche for more and get what I REALLY want. A Cadillac. Plus have money left over for gas and restoration.

I chose the beemer, just because I love that engine.

Bear in mind the 997 GT3 and GT2 haven't come out yet, and they would be the most similar in spirit to the CSL...

I would take the Carrera S and then sell it and buy a C6 ZO6 when it comes out and I'd have money left over.

Oh, it's on now. German time.

*Basically, I prefer the 997 is what I'm trying to say. I don't know a word of German, I used a translator. I know those translators suck so what does this really say?
