Well,I can see nothing wrong with Lambo producing Diesel units especially that this is the fashion of this era:High performance Diesel units are proving to be trustworhty more & more everyday .

it should work, because diesel prices are always lower than gas, and the original v10 gallardo probably required premium fuel, so this model i think will do very, very well, as long as lambo keeps it's price around the same as all its other models.

could be a joke, too. i think the part where it says it has 960 lbs of torque at 1800 is completely ridiculous

For a diesel, considering that it's a Lamborghini, I wouldn't consider it too far-fetched. Diesels regularly double their power output in torque (as measured in lbs-ft).

It's probably an April fools joke though

Actually I think Lamborghini started with diesel engines when they produced tractors before entering into the car business. Very few of you will know that Porsche did the same, and on the TechnoClassica in Essen a Porsche Diesel is featured very prominently among the normal products.

That is true, and as far as i know they still do make tractors. But a Diesel Lamborgini Road Car? well, if porsche can photoshop a Volkswagen Sharan into the Porsche Vaverra using Renault Twingo Headlamps, anythings possible.

then again, porsche could also build a 4wd.....

Also the pics are actual spy pics of the Gallardo Which have been photoshopped to include the "Sooty Smoke" the article speaks of...

Actually the VW-concern has a very nice V10 Diesel available, which would fit perfectly into the Cayenne, and might also be used in the Gallardo??

Well, here's the Porsche Diesel as shown in Essen. The tractor was originally named Allgaier, but they became better known as the Porsche.

Audi is currently considering building a Diesel engine for the next LM car(probably R9) . and could consider marketing it .. using the Lamborghini brand . as they did with the FSI engine
There is no terrible way of winning
    there is just winning
