I guess the rule only applies since the advent of sponsorship.

Also for some reason, some of the best looking liveries are linked to tobacco and alcoholic drinks sponsorship.

    Oh, that goes unsaid.

I think my favourite livery is the old Rothmans Porsches.

I do not smoke, but I encourage anyone that I talk to that does smoke to smoke cigarettes manufactured by companies that sponsored iconic race cars of the past.

or alternatively ... tobacco sponsorship brought VAST sums to the industry which prompted the likes of Ecclestone to realise that instead of it a SPORT it was much more lucratiuve as a BUSINESS.

There was as much innovation in F1 before tobacco advertising became the king.

All the new tracks are coming where smoking is growing and we're losing tracks where society is reducing smoking from health concerns.

I dont think it was healthy - pun intended

But the Canucks are crazy !!!!!!
What do they do with classic/historic race events ?

Anway, my smiley on motorsport sponsorship in the UK anyway was the ructions it caused within the BBC and British clowns when a DUREX sponsored car ran

I think it has to do with broadcasting, since F1 race will be broadcasted where as historic races won't...

I also think that Rothmans is the best sponsorship livery ever created.

If I was to start smoking, I'd want to smoke Rothmans cigarretes.

If I smoked, I'd probably smoke Marlboro, my dad used to smoke them.

I know Marlboro sponsored Ferrari, but I think they also sponsored Honda when they were with McLaren, right?

Edit- Yes, they did, the Mclaren MP4/5.

But Lucky Strike would be a close second, for Honda's F1 racing.

Cigarettes are cool for those that smoke it in my opinion, but I hate the smell and the health effects of it.

I love the sound of a Zippo.

I'd smoke an old school pipe, unironically.
Life's too short to drive bad cars.
