Lexus LF-A laps ring in 7.24

Lexus LF-A | Auto Express News | News | Auto Express

    from Auto Express.co.uk

The king is dead, long live the king! Lexus’ long-awaited LF-A has unofficially smashed the lap record at Germany’s Nürburgring, with a time of seven minutes, 24 seconds. That beats Porsche’s new GT2 by a second and makes the Lexus the King of the ’Ring. Company insiders have revealed that a 4.8-litre V10 – co-developed with Yamaha – powered the record-breaking test mule. It revs to 9,000rpm and pumps out 552bhp. Combined with a highly aerodynamic body, it should enable the LF-A to hit 210mph.
Still not sure about how it looks though

And what record is that, exactly? IIRC "The" lap record is 6.55 by a Radical SR8.

Eh, it's not a looker. But at least it'll be fast.

Would like to see the production version of it though.

    It's a mule. So, a mule defeating a stock 911 GT2 doesn't mean anything.

Yes, I'm noticing that there's been a lot of effort to deceive using bogus 'ring times lately, or is it just me?

    Agree!!!!!

There has been allot of manufacturer claims and or spy ring times that so far havent been backed up by reputable sources i.e. Sport Auto.

In profile it looks spectacular, less so from in front. Can't wait to hear that engine.

It should be called the Toyota Supra. What tires were on the prototype?
Should Comcast, which is buying NBC, have more motorsports coverage on VERSUS and now NBC? Does North America need a racing tv channel? Find the answer to that exact question on facebook.

With so many different laws in different countries, the term "street legal" is extremely ambiguous. In truth, it's totally illegal for road use in most places.

The LF-A car is intended for the road, and is a full production car.

    1. Strip down most of the expensive amenities
    2. Rebadge as Toyota Supra
    3. Sell for 20K
    4. Sit back and watch the profits roll in.
I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.

    $20K?
I understand that in the US you've grown accustomed to the price advantage that comes from mass produced Mexican powertrains but this is going to be a very different unit.

Profits from $20K? Step away from the bong, sir.
