    Why the Nissan VQ35DE sucks?

Can someone tell me why this engine is considered bad. I heard that here a few times. I know Nissan uses that engine in every single car they have but what makes it suck as much as people say it does?

it doesn't suck, it just doesn't have good internals like the RB26DETT or the SR20DET or so and so, the internals of the VQ35DE tend to break after about ~400hp, which leads to a rebuild.

i actually think its a good engine.

So is there another engine or engines with about the same displacement and age that can surpass 400hp without the stock internals breaking?

I think the problem's most people have with it is that its noisy and not that refined

This engine is widely considered to be the world's benchmark V6 engine for its combination of smoothness, reliability and high power output. It was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 2002 through 2006, the only engine to be on Ward's list every year since it's inception.

I've always considered the VQ35 to be highly decorated and revered.

This is of course not from personal experience, but I wouldn't mind a Maxima....

a really badass note too(F1-ish kinda sound), at least on the z and G35 coupe.

Actually I think the note is much lower than an F1 sound. At any extent it is a great sounding engine. Very mean.

I heard it on the road once and I heard it in videos a few times. It sounds good and all but it does sound like when I'm brushing my teeth and flushing out my throat.

we have a patfinder with that engine in it. it makes a funny clinking noise that they can't FIX! but otherwise no problems.

i have a G35 Sedan. boyy does that thing roar. around 4000 RPM at peak torque you better move because that thing sounds so nice throaty and deep. after taht it gets loud and roars to the 6250 redline. when it starts up it roars then goes down to a purr and at idle you can barely hear it. it is bad ass. great engine. after 400 horses it may not be as friendly but you can easily get 350 horses out with out adding a blower of any sort.which is a lot. i love hearing the exhaust note on it.
