Since 2003 Ford has been 'updating' their CV Interceptor.
Since 2003 it now gets the same heads as the upgraded Mustang engine (swirl port induction I think). Lots of tweaks to the suspension. And unlike all youse guys who like to compare it to an asian vehicle, the CV IS a rear wheel drive vehicle.
Besides, if you put a tick mark by option 90B (ballistic door panels - threat level 4) and option 68G (Laminated security side glass - keeps MOST pistol rounds out) AND IF your city will allow it, the computer can be flashed for a different set of commands that aside from making it a barn burner, it's upper end is 140 mph (that's 220kph for youse guys outside the US). Which means you are much safer from external threats as you chase down those bad guys at eye watering blurring speeds.
So, no she ain't no 'luxo barge' any more. As I said earlier, the suspension has been upgraded, the tranny, engine and power steering unit ALL get external coolers, so it can run hot and nasty without detrimental effect.
Now, some of cities won't authorize their Interceptors to go above the 'normal' 129 mph mark. Go figure.
And just so EVERYONE understands the 22 mpg. Here in the good old USA we have EXACTLY FIVE vehicles that are sold on the open market that get better that 40 mpg. The REST of youse guys outside of the USA get to choose from over EIGHTY SIX models that get better than 40 mpg. So, yeah, as normal we are gettin' hosed.
But, you slap a K&N air filter on it. Then change out ALL the fluids to synthetic (I use Royal Purple myself on all our vehicles), you could expect as high as 25 mpg as you chase down bad guys (a minimum 10 percent higher than stock - sometimes higher).
