I dont think Nissan used racing tires but do think that they had the boost turned up. Also notice that early reviews had the GTR perform better than more recent reviews.
No, it's not because the GT-R press cars have had their share of heavy wear and tear.

I mean... how could a Nissan GT-r beat the Bugatti Veyron or even the Ferrari 430 scuderia, McLaren SLR, or Lamborghini Murcielago LP640.

It makes me wonder how they did it since these cars have the advantage in raw power and usable by these cars because the Nurburgring is a High-speed track. It's not like Monaco...

So, give me an explanation on how they did it...
The Veyron, SLR (with the exception of the special special edition), or LP640 were never built to be a wildly fast kings of the Nuerburgring. As a result, their times aren't going to be as high as the GT-R or the ZR1 that were tuned there.

the lap times of the GT2 and GTR are close enough that the nissan's time seems perfectly possible, imo. on the one hand if they're disputing nissan's time due to their own results and nothing else that seems legit but should have left their own cars out of it, even as a comparison/benchmark. but then again if it was just moaning:

    This is how it works.

Companies all buy their competitors products to test and tear apart. Porsche tested the GTR. Their results did not mesh with Nissan's, and they called them out on it. They've also, at this point, probably already purchased a ZR1 and ACR; but their results with those cars may have been similar enough to not warrant throwing the bullshit flag.

I find it funny that they are worried about their own reputation enough to call them out for it......round 1 to Nissan for completely rattling Porsche's cage.....

It's not like they released a press release. It was a comment made by an engineer at an Australian event for the 911.

What are you eight? I'll admit I'm no genius when it comes to performance figures and which cars are capable of what, but that was one of the most dense comments I've ever read on this site.

What ever happened to the eary 11.3 quarter mile results? It seems that production GTR are running mostly high 11's to low 12's.........this is with LC and other Nissan gizmos.

At this point nurburgring times are about as relevant to a car's performance as a penis swinging contest. Too many variables to account for, and it seems like Porsche should be concerned about making new vehicles that don't look like the Panamera.

Evo mag tested a bunch of cars at the revised West circuit including a GT2 and GTR, the GTR was .1 behind the GT2 over the distance and .3 behind a Carrerra GT.

Nissan probably didn't cheat, but they do have to live with the shame of the GTR's appearance. My god it's homely.
i was waiting on a moment, but the moment never came. all the billion other moments, were just slipping all away. i must have been tripping, we're just slipping all away. just ego tripping.

I don't really have anything further to add to the whole debate. But I must say: I have greatly enjoyed the ruckus that has ensued this day between the GT-R fanboys and the haters. It never gets old hearing guys argue to the death on the internet over cars they have not and will never own.
