The biennial Frankfurt Motor Show or IAA kicked off today with the first of a pair of press days. We have kept a close eye on things and have rounded up eight of the most interesting releases from the German show.
Hot on the heals of the RS 6 Avant, Audi now unveiled the similarly specced RS 7 Sportback. Like the estate version, it comes equipped with a twin-turbo V8 that boasts a mild hybrid system and sends 591 bhp to all four wheels. Arch-rival BMW used this opportunity to provide a glimpse at the future 4-Series with the Concept 4.
The big news from Bugatti last week was that a modified Chiron broke the 300 mph barrier and the French hypercar manufacturer now announced the production version of that record breaker, aptly dubbed the Chiron Super Sport 300+. It features a bespoke long-tail body and an even more powerful version of the quad-turbo W16 engine. Production is limited to 30 examples and they will retail for a startling €3.5 million.
Hyundai's future will be increasingly electric, which is underlined by the all-electric Veloster N ETCR racer and 45 EV Concept that both debuted at Frankfurt.
Moving along the same path, Mercedes-Benz debuted the Vision EQS with a wild LED lighting layout.
Among the new cars released by Porsche this week are the new 911 in Carrera 4 and Carrera 4 Cabriolet versions. This completes the 'standard' line-up, so now we await the high-performance GT3 and Turbo versions.
