    the germans where too scared the japanese would beat their precious audi.

    ERRR.....generally speaking Subaru don't ussually fall in the luxury 4x4 market.....except the Forrester maybe...but that too is mostly a farm implement....& not a luxury cruiser per say....

    just because it has 4wd and can go on snow in wrc spec, doesnt make it the best thing since sliced bread off-road, in fact i reckon it probably would have got stuck and beached very quickly, secondly, they all seem as though there not pushing the other cars very hard! i wonder what a Range Rover would have done...
