I'd say that, yes, it doesn't look or sound especially promising, but like the R8, I'm intrigued enough to actually give it an opportunity and try one out.

The figures are definately not promising.

Indeed as is Honda's recent history, with the Insight (which I think is a fair comparison in terms of development time and intention) proving to be somewhat of a dog.

Honda, like Toyota, is on the slippery slope to mediocrity.

Quality issues and and not getting to market with industry leading products.

Sad to see such a benchmark company falter.

Their regular non-hybrid cars aren't that bad, are they?

If we make an exception for our Civic's downgraded rear suspension, their cars are usuall well engineered like Subarus, only not quite as quirky and oddball.

speaking of, proper civic type R's are starting to arrive at importers now. actually look a bit sleeperish - close to the normal model.

Not speaking of the Civic so much as the Fit and Element which are below the quality level expected from Honda. If the CR-Z drives as shoddy as the Fit...Honda is in the dumper.

My buddy and I were talking about this last night actually. I concluded that Toyota actually has more exciting cars than Honda.

What the shit is going on?!

He said - as you do Dino - that they aren't really leading anymore. They have some staples - Civic, Accord, Fit (arguably, though rated well what I've heard; can't comment on reliability) but they are faltering.

This harms him as he's a Honda fanboy in large part because his parents owns a dealership.

Well, compared to our old Escort, an unequivocally shitty car, our new Civic is really not an improvement. Quality is better, obviously, but most other aspects of the car seem inferior to the Escort. This surprised me because I assumed that the Civic would be light, easy to see out of, and docile being the benchmark and whatnot. Perhaps this is a rant for another thread.

    I'm confused, I'm very confused.

The made a Concept CR-Z which was pretty darn good. And now ????
Did the "Concept CR-Z" Designer die ? And they lost all the plans of the Concept?
I would have loved to be at that CR-Z meeting, it must have been something like this:

-Designer ; let's get that concept right in to production.
-Honda HQ; No. I'ts to expensive. Let's leave the concept and start over from scratch, make it ugly, and make it a hybrid with poor fuel economy figures. And give it more CO2 emissions then the civic hybrid. Because that's what the world is waiting for.

Why is there so much car in front of the front wheels? They said there would only be a little car in front of the front wheels, this is a terrible Honda!

It has all the makings of Epic Fail.

Slow, overweight, mediocre fuel economy, too expensive. Everything that's wrong about a hybrid, with none of the advantages.

    Honda is toast.

I'm a crazy Honda fanboy and I'm disappointed. Although I'd be more worried about your friend, I'm sure the Ridgeline barely ever moves, and the Crosstour won't be moving all too quick from the showrooms either.

That's fine, they don't sell cars. They do sell lots of bikes and snowblowers though.

So they're not a car dealer huh?

    That's fine then.
