    Volvo XC70 (3rd gen) 2007-2016

Volvo debuted the third generation in February 2007, using the Ford EUCD platform and sharing much of the interior (other than the rear seats and loadbay) with the second generation S80. The rear-seat legroom was increased by two centimetres and a revised tailgate design increased the load area volume by 55 L. The tailgate had also had optional motorized lift and closing action. The V70 was offered for the first time with a four-cylinder engine.

The US market V70/XC70 AWD are only available with the S80 FWD drivetrain, a 3.2 litre straight-six engine producing 238 metric horsepower (175 kW; 235 hp) at 6,200 rpm; torque of 320 newton metres (236 lb·ft) at 3,200 rpm - mated to a six-speed Geartronic automatic transmission. The S80 AWD engine choices, a 3.0 litre turbo-six with 285 metric horsepower (210 kW; 281 hp) at 5,600 rpm, torque 400 newton metres (295 lb·ft) at 1,500–4,800 rpm, and a 4.4 litre V8 engine with 315 metric horsepower (232 kW; 311 hp) at 5,950 rpm, torque 440 newton metres (325 lb·ft) at 3,950 rpm are currently not available in the V70 since they require the S80 AWD platform. In some other markets D5 and/or T6 AWD models of XC70 are available.

The high performance V70R AWD, as well as the five-cylinder turbo engine range mated to a five-speed Geartronic automatic transmissions of the previous generation were discontinued with the third generation.

As of the 2011 model year, Volvo no longer markets the V70 in North America. In its place, a front-wheel drive version of the XC70 is available. The V70 remains in production for markets other than North America.

    Thats it for now.
Just want to share my opinion about this car with you, all those new Volvo's don't appeal to me. i think Volvo lost it with the previous S80 and V70. The only new Volvo which looks good is the C30 and that is because its just different then the rest (Astra, Golf, A3 and 1series).

Call me a grumpy old man but I just love the boxy Volvo's.
The box styling gives attitude, and it is even possible to use this "box" styling in a new design. Look at the 300c, It is a box but on the other hand it is not. Like that.

    The new Volvo S80, V70 and XC70:
Exclusive sophistication on a new level

    • Focus on elegant, sophisticated design and attention to detail
    • Fuel consumption down to class-leading 4.1 l/100 km in the Volvo S80
    • New, intuitive Sensus Connected Touch system
    • Enhanced IntelliSafe systems
    • Active High Beam Control for more relaxed driving at night

"The new features in the new Volvo S80, V70 and XC70 are based on our human-centric approach, which has been a Volvo hallmark for more than 85 years. They take the elegant sophistication of our largest models to a new level," says Lex Kerssemakers, Senior Vice President, Product Strategy & Vehicle Line Management at Volvo Car Group. He continues: "We pave the way for our future model line-up by bringing the three models visually closer to each other. The renewal is one of the most extensive in our history, with the main focus on improved quality and attention to detail."

    ........Bla bla bla... etc.
