A new model was officially added to Chery’s product line today: the Cowin 5, a restyled Eastar mid-size sedan. Five versions, all equipped with a Chery-made 1.8L engine, went on sale in North East China for 75,800 Yuan (12,015$) -101,800 Yuan (16,137$) (nation-wide release is scheduled in April for 2012 Beijing Auto Show).
As the first mid-size in the Cowin series, the 5 is essentially a facelifted Eastar, with which it shares basic measures: 2700mm wheelbase, 4770mm long, 1815mm wide, and 1445mm high. It runs on 205/55 R16 Maxxis tires.
Only one engine option is provided, the ACTECO-SQR481FC 1.8-liter rated 97kW/5750rpm and 170Nm/4300-4500rpm. It is mated with either a 5MT or a CVT.
All versions come standard with ABS+EBD, power windows/doors/external windows, and remote key. Advanced features on selected models include cruise control, GPS, rearview camera, power sunroof, and auto A.C.
