    Vista Exclusive Games

I've been writing down this years games that i plan to pre-order, and remedy's latest game from the creators of Max Payne is Alan Wake (http://www.alanwake.com/).

However in the read-up it states that the game is Windows Vista and Xbox 360 exclusive. What is all that about? Surely if you dont have vista but a good enough system to play it, You can still run the game?

If not, this is microsoft fascism!

thats not on. this game looks pretty good but o think gates is takeing it too far by not allowing non-vista use. Maybe MS have a 2 way plan to get people to vista 1) game compatibilty (here) and 2) new computers

Every OS that is to be supported has to be developed for and tested on.
So add in XP and it would take even longer to get to market and cost more.

And of course the real reason is YES of course MS want us all to move to Vista as quickly as possible Just as music publishers don't release everything on vinyl or cassete or mini-disc. You needed to "upgrade" to play the CDs. "Fascist record companies" ... "fascist Sony" ... "fascist Magnavox"

yeah. I got this quote which reassures the previous statement:

"The Microsoft connection by funding the project will set limits to the Remedy games. Alan Wake will require either the Windows Vista operating system or Microsoft's Xbox 360 gaming console as its platform. The game will not be translated for other consoles. The fact that the game does not have to be translated to all different platforms will simplify and speed up its production."

In other discussions with Remedy it seems that their choice in platform and OS was purely in order to 'create the perfect game'.

Whether or not that happens, I think they need to prepare for very low sales..

I'll upgrade to DX10 when its out which means i could play the game, regardless of me having XP instead of Vista which shouldnt effect the matter ATALL. I want to play this game and being restricted and ordered to spend £200 on a new console or Operating System just to play it is utter bullsh*t.

And then they want the consumers to feel bad about piracy...

It really does. its a shame i'd have to spend £200 + £30 for the game itself in order to play it.. oh well.
