GTR FIA Racing game: is it hard, or am I retarded?

A question to those who played GTR FIA Racing:
Is this game really that hard? It's not that I have problems winning the race. I have problems with finishing a clean lap! I tried to play on a semi-pro and it looks like this: brake, turn, understeer, grass, wall. Brake, turn (woohoo, I made it), going out, too much throtle, oversteer, spin (mostly 180 to 360 but I did manage a couple of 720 ). I know that's the way it should be in real life but in real life you have analogue steering instead of a digital. (I don't have any steering device, I play on the keybord.)
Is it possible to play this game on keybord or should I just quit?
What is your experience with this game?

I can't play worth a damn using a joystick, so I imagine it would be even more difficult using the keyboard.

I need to stick to the console games.

Many driving simulations are much easier to play with a proper wheel & pedals. With them obviously comes analogue steering, throttle and brakes, so you get to control the car more than with a keyboard. I guess GTR is one of those games designed to be very close to reality, thus they assume players to own a wheel/pedals set.

Yeah, you definitely need something other than the kb controlling the car. I have trouble with that game even using a wheel.

Yep after some practice I managed to get my lap times down and execute a clean lap at Spa, but I agree it's quite difficult even with a proper steering wheel. That makes it a great game though. I have only tried the demo though.

The game is not one of those "pick up and play". It takes quite a few times (maybe hours) to even start to get some nice laps.

    I recently finished 1st barely in the Spa 24Hours with a R-GT.

This game isn't easy, and a wheel is definate.

right now it's not that easy mate, at least in lodz. you can see police patrols on ŁKS, where you could get every game for 5$. all you can get there from russians or chinese are some clothes or plastic clocks

They have illegal software for cheap but other stuff including joysticks and wheels is still almost the same as in store.

ye, it is i think the hardest game, well on full sim it is

i use an xbox pad, the triggers are great for the brakes and accell, and u can use X and B for gear changes.

u can get drivers of the net 0.57 i would recommend, but i have tryed most controls, steering wheels and joysticks, and i would still recommend a xbox pad
