Mighty BMW 320 Turbo and updated Lamborghini Aventador ...
Today, we continue our BMW centenary celebrations with a detailed look at one of the great Group 5 silhouette racers produced during the late 1970s; the 320 Turbo Group 5. This was an evolution of the Group 5 car, and designed to race against the mighty Porsche 935s on both sides of the Atlantic. Using 1.4- or 2.0-litre turbocharged engines, these compact machines managed to punch well above their weight. Our feature includes a pair of the ultimate, lightweight specification cars, which are pictured in this lovely gallery during this year's Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.
With first deliveries starting in the spring of the new year, Lamborghini have introduced the second generation, Aventador. Dubbed the 'S', it features a revised styling, more powerful engine and rear-wheel steering. Thanks to the extensive use of lightweight, composite materials, the 740 hp Aventador S still only tips the scales at 1,575 kg.
