So apparently DSLRs with large kits are not banned.
Interesting.
As long as you don't use flash, you should be fine.

In womens hockey, besides the Canadians and the USA there is not much contest. There is no contest at all actually, some of the countries competing in Vancouver don't even have Woman's hockey leagues, their players play mostly for universities and leagues in NA.
Why is it called an Olympic record then? Is is of THESE games only? I thought an Olympic record was the best time ever sat at the Olympic games.

GO HABS GO!
Because the world record set in Calgary was set in 2007, not at an Olympic event. Therefore, the Olympic Record was set at these games because they are indeed the fastest ever time at an Olympics.
Funnily enough, the 3000m split of that world record 5km time itself would have been a world record. The current record is 3:37.28 held by Eskil Ervik, whereas Kramer's 3000m split in the 5k skate was 3:37.15.

I thought Olympics are all about rising to the occasion and excelling expectation...besides, I thought the good thing about the judging aspect of Mogul is that ultimate speed accounts for something. You can look more graceful and tidy in the turn but if you are slower, that becomes easier to do....

I think we need to qualify this statement a little more.
Dale Begg-Smith, the Australian competitor who scored Silver, is originally a Canadian, and has copped a LOT of flak from the Canadian Media over his "defection".
As his coach Desovich has to keep his competitor happy, and is allowed to express an opinion. Winning gold is serious business and, if you looked at Begg-Smith's face on the podium, he doesn't look like someone who likes to lose. IE a bit of a sore loser.
By the article it seems like they acknowledged his own failure to be quicker, but was countered by their belief the canadian competitor was overscored on his ability. The olympics, however, can do strange things to a Competitors ability and self belief.
TL;DR - Begg-Smith is a sore loser, but Technically Canadian.

The statement is made by Australian though.....
I still find the whole argument of "not capable of the scoring he was given" as "WTF is he smoking" when someone said that....
To be fair, most Aussie paper I dig up did not necessarily agreed with the Aussie Olympic officials...

As are we entitled to laugh at him.
