    Is that Sebastian Loeb?

I thought WRC rally drivers race on public roads but are exempt from the law.

    Guess not.

    What!? Closed public roads yeah.
Sometimes they might be in a bit of a hurry on the open roads between stages or between stage and service though.

If I was a police officer and saw a car in full racing specifications passing by... I would simply watch it (and hear it) and I wouldn't budge. Come on now, what a shame to stop one of those beautiful machines! Especially when it says WRC all over it...

On public roads all rally cars must conform to test standards and be driven within the law.
On closed roads - private or public - then the law is suspended for the duration of the stage.

The look on his face is the same one everyone gives when they get a fine - it's the "oh just piss off and let me go, I've got more important stuff to do right now, you arse" face (rolls off the tongue, eh? )

remember when they wouldnt let solberg (or was it gronholm?) drive to the next stage because his bumper was loose or his tyre was a little dented or something?

These people must have something secret to make them sleep at night

    Not very high.
I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.

At RallyAus a few years ago, a competitor was scared of seeing a cop in a similar situation.

They got duly spotted, and pulled over. After a brief chat they got a full klights and sirens escort back to the service compound

Tommy Makkinen in the 1998 RAC Rally. Then Carlos Sainz's Corolla broke just 100 metres from the end giving the title to Makkinen.

I also remember a time when a Subaru was rallying with a broken wheel. I saw it on video in a booth at an auto show. I just don't remember what rally it was in.
