A set of landau bars for the '76 Limo arrived today. As the owner said, they will need to be replated/rechromed, which I will have done next week.
Here is a demo photo which shows how they will look once installed on the car...

Got pics of the rest of the car ? .
Here are some, but it will look better once the landau bars are on.

Fleet, don't put the bars, it looks great without them.
"Religious belief is the “path of least resistance”, says Boyer, while disbelief requires effort."
A couple of members on a Cadillac forum actually did say that, but most agree it would look better with the bars. I'll have them re-chromed and see how they look before I install them. But I always thought that part of the rear quarters looked kind of bare. All that space and no emblems or ornaments.

I'm with the "put them on" view Fleet, a lot of space and the bars will look good.
OR .... dare you to put these on instead
Instant ban from the Cadillac club I'd reckon !!!!

Agreed. I think the bars will look good on there. It looks pretty bare without them.
Although it looks great at the moment either way.

Still love your cars, Fleet and I think the landau bars look awesome!
That is exactly what I think, Matra... there is plenty of room for those bars. I have actually been looking for a set for several years. They seem to be hard to find but the bars for the Ford Thunderbird are much more available.
As for the emblem you posted, that would sure attract a lot of attention!

Well, I have a decision to make.
I have a choice of two landau bars. The longer set bought off eBay and the shorter set bought from someone posting on a Cadillac forum.
Here are photos of both, shorter and longer. The shorter ones are in better condition but I will probably have them re chromed anyway. The short bars measure 17 and 3/8" from end to end compared with 23 and 1/4" for the long bars.
Which set looks better on the limo? Compare with the photos below...

The shorter ones are much classier, and as it is a limo that would be my choice, but the long bars look very much in-line with the '70s excess of the limo.
"Kimi, can you improve on your [race] finish?"
"No. My Finnish is fine; I am from Finland. Do you have any water?"
That is truly a nice car Fleet. Looking forward to seeing photos of the finished product. Those back seats look even more comfortable than my sofa .
