that footage of the house floating down the surge was my uncles.
Can you tell him to safely tie it up to something please, thanks.
Haha yeah, if you can't control your house you don't deserve to have one

    Seriously though, that sucks

no chance, i live bayside, different (much smaller) river basin. brisbane has run off from surrounding mountain rangers and lockyer valley all going through the brisbane river (dammed in two places)

Saw that more rain is coming and Brisbane would see higher water than in '74... hope you and your friends & neighbors will be allright, clutch. Good luck.

the peak atm is lower than '74 thanks to the wivenhoe dam, despite nearly twice as much water - current peak is expected to linger for 12 hours then take 4 days to recede.
in '74, 1.2 million megalitres caused the flooding, this time the dam is holding back 2.1million..
if more rain comes and that hurricane forms we could be in trouble.

also, unconfirmed reports of bullsharks across the highway at goodna haha. wouldn't suprise me if they were juveniles escaping the turbulent river waters for the calmer floodwaters.. the big ones are likely at the mouth of the river hoovering up whatever gets swept out that way.

^^^ Hah, good to have humor, eh? Glad to hear some infrastructure improvements were made over the past 36 years, but still... damn.
    No pun intended.

Bull sharks are soulless, the thought of even small bulls foraging in floodwater makes my skin crawl. Been a diver most of my life... they're one of the few things that spook me. Not common here anymore but used to be a fisherman's nightmare, they'd come upriver on the smell of rainfall runoff and snook waiting at spillways for shiners.

the river is fairly rife with them.. further upstream is part of their breeding grounds.
i'd only expect pups and little ones feeding on baitfish etc in the floodwaters tbh?

Oh and their hillclimb STI is slowly coming together. The engine was delivered from Possom Bourne Motorsport in NZ a few months back.

This was kind of scary - my Aunt & Uncle live just outside Ipswich & their property was cut off - a large creek runs about 30m from their house in the flows. They're ok Fortunately, but my Uncle being an Air Traffic Controller is slightly busy ATM.

Toowoomba is very familiar to me (1989-1991 lived there, Grandma lived there till she died, Parents met & married there) so it was shocking to see all that happened.

Not buying a car from QLD now, I don't think.

the mess is insane. driving through the city is almost normal, then you look down a street and it's waist high in silt

friends ended up with 3-4 carpet pythons chilling in debris on their patio, and shipping containers got thrown around like cardboard boxes

I love how the snakes are just like "Sup, we cool to chill here?"

    No problem, dude.
