    1120 bhp and 414 km/h 9ff GT9-R in great detail ...

    Dear Ultimatecarpage.com visitor,

Earlier today we stopped by an anonymous German industrial estate to visit Porsche tuner 9ff. The order of business was to take a closer look at their new GT9-R. Launched last month in Essen, it is a further development of the original GT9 shown a year ago. The two versions reflect the wide variety of options the small manufacturer has available for the very limited production run of 20 examples. There are three engine specs ranging from 750 to 1120 bhp and various body configurations. Best of all is that customers can change their original specification fairly easily. So relatively inexperienced drivers can start with the modest 750 bhp engine and upgrade to the next 'Stage' as their ability grows. The body can be switched even easier from a high speed, low drag layout to the high downforce body debuted on the GT9-R. In April of this year, the GT9 development car reached a top speed of 409 km/h; a world record for a street legal car. With the 1120 bhp engine the car can accelerate from 0 to 300 km/h in under 16 seconds and might eventually top 420 km/h.
All of this was reason enough to head down to Dortmund to capture the GT9-R in great detail. Unfortunately the car was on summer tires, so we could not yet experience the epic acceleration figures. We have, however, returned with a full camera resulting in a full 18-shot gallery.

I'm confused. 9ff keeps claiming 409kph to be a world record, but the SSC did a confirmed 412kph. Did 9ff test theirs first or what?

I'm not saying it makes one car "better" than another, but it's a fact about the car, like which wheels are driven. I would care about which is correct, if not neccessarily anything beyond that.

You know, the GT9-R is obviously a technical accomplishment and it looks fairly attractive compared with the original GT9. However, could they have changed the interior color or at least be rid of those checker board seats? Black would have been more appropriate to give it a GT racer feel.

when a car comes out like this where they only flaunt the boost (hi, turbo lag), acceleration, power, aeros, and TOP SPEED, top speed matters

they mentioned nothing about suspension, handling improvements, or amazing weight reductions or anything of that sort to increase maneuvering, and this is not a car of comfort, so yeah i'd say i would only care about something like top speed

likewise when a car like the gt-3 rs comes out top speed matters not. i personally don't normally care about top speed, since it is a BS useless stat. but this car is obviously for nostalgic "make little boys happy" style car, so in that sense it mattuhs.

Many car manufacturers/tuners are really obsessed with breaking the 1000 bhp & 250 mph barrier...

It seems they don't care if they're the fastest, they just want to break the "barrier"

    And many of them succeeded...

I'll let you in on a "secret". The blue car and this one are the same. This is a further development of the same car, which by now has done quite a lot kms. . The white is vinyl, put on top of the original blue paint. The interior is still as it was and therefore blue. We have seen the design drawings for the new dash, and it will look totally different. Of course each of the 20 clients can express his/her wishes here se well.
