    Nurburgring Bragging....Ferrari Edition...

Ferrari 599XX Claims New Nurburgring Lap Time Record - Ferrari 599XX - Jalopnik

Slick shod 599XX broke 7 min......

You reckon slick is worth 20 sec on a track as long as the ring? I'd think so...

    "production-derived sports car"

Was the (quicker) 'production' Radicals on slicks as well?

I'm assuming this thing still has a single-clutch gearbox. Whats the point in still messing around with those high-speed single-clutch semi auto boxes?

The Radical was driven to the ring on road legal tires, completed its lap, and then drove home. The Ferrari had to be shipped.

Nevertheless, it's a good time. The video of the run is very cool.

On a dry day worth a LOT more than 20 secs !

This is a marketing con and sadly many will be taken in by it

Any idea who was driving it?
That would make a lot of difference as well.

Pointless until someone would do the same with an FXX, an MC12 Versione Corse and a Zonda R.

I was just calling in cars made only to be driven on car without any specific championships in mind, but yeah, at least starting using the same "type" of tires would be something. Radical's were semi-slicks, still legal tires and capable of quite more than say 3 laps.

I have to say, that 599FXX is still awesome. But I still can't see it justifying its crazy price tag just so 'you can be a part of the Ferrari development program'. How can some rich business man with no skills bring anything to the development program other than reliability analysis. All Ferraris are going twin clutch anyway.

ferrari does not need lap times on "the ring" to sell cars or make a point. they already do. interesting that a front engine rwd car does this
