I got around to Eggnogging my new 1974 Mercury Cougar XR7 the other day . I went ahead and did the hood ornament too.

As far as I know, the Cougar XR7 only came with an auto box with a colum shifter, not a colum shifted manual.

Wow, that is quite nice. Good purchase.

As the others have said, it looks good in white.

Yes, it only came with an automatic. However, '74 Cougars with bucket seats could have the shifter in the center console. My car is a little unusual in that even though it has bucket seats and a center console, it was ordered with a column-mounted shifter.

    yeah bro

    2hours to buller
4hours to hotham - i must admit the buckets get a little uncomfortable after 4 hours but its great drive through the sticks. Has some donk sheer cliffs when you get close to the mountain but its simply not worth pushing your car around that sort of shit. Can very quickly ruin your trip.

    Wow, that's a long ride.

I understand about the cliffs, I've seen some really scary stuff too.

I'm hoping for an Impreza Wagon for my first car as well.

yeah, really impressed with the grip of AWD espicially in the wet. came out of a 2000 VTIR prelude, which is a nice car but such a difference in traction and power delivery. I'd recommend a WRX hatch to anyone who wants a descent sports car with ample space thats relatively cheap to run. ive been averaging around 10L per 100ks which im preety happy about considering i was averaging that in the honda

Any idea what's that in MPG?

I seriously am thinking about an Impreza. I really like the fact that it's a wagon. That can't be said about many cars here. Wagons are looked down on.

i think it equates to around 25mpg
Space wise, so convieniant - can easily fit 5 blokes with snow gear(roof racks fitted though).
Its quite suprising the overtaking ability at highway speeds with a full car load. i love it. a bit of a handful when she goes sideways in the wet, it requires lots of quick and small steering inputs.
