UCP's Official Progressive List of Forum Etiquette

I figured that it's about time we all established and understood a general list of forum etiquette. If all goes well, this list will be golden. It will make an excellent reference for all the newcomers. I'll start us off...

If you can, every time you reply here, try to think of another one, or maybe two.

    1) Whenever possible, use proper grammar and spelling

    2) Among the first few replies, never quote the first post of a thread

Why not quote the first post?

    3) Do not abuse the signature feature

You shouldn't quote the first post because it's general etiquette Especially if you're the first reply! I suppose it would be okay to quote some small portion of the first post, but it's useless to quote the whole thing.

    Anyway,

    4) When quoting someone who posted an image within the text, delete the image formatting from the quote.

    6) Abusing of a post should be based on it's contents, not it's contributor.
    7) Just because you can (Post) doesn't mean you should.
    8) if you don't have something relevant to add say NOTHING!

    9) Check the date of the last post in the thread you are posting in, to make sure you dont revive an old, dead thread.

    10) Read the whole thread before posting in it, to avoid posting something that has already been mentioned. (Exceptions might be game threads such as "Word Association" or "This or That")

    In a similar vein.
Can people not just post this type of thing:
    "Ricers/Bangle Sucks!1!!!1!!!"
Or "Vipers are the best car eva!!!!111!!!!"
    In isolation.
Please back up these type of posts with an intelligent and reasoned comment as to why you feel this is so.

    Thank you.
    Thanks for all the fish

I'd just like to say that these are all very good, and they stuck out amongst everyone elses when I read them. Thanks a lot, seriously. These are some of the most fundamental aspects of any debate, regardless of subject or situation.

A definate +2, thanks for bringing this up. I thought that it was worth mentioning this within the thread, rather than just giving you a +2.
