    PS3 price.. and more

    BREAKING NEWS

Sony has released the final pricing details for the PlayStation 3. The unit will come in two flavors: one with a 60 GB hard drive ($599 US) and one with a smaller 20 GB hard drive ($499 US).

The pricing is steeper than many initially hoped for, especially considering that the Xbox 360 currently sells for $299 and $399 (with 20 GB hard drive). There's still no word on the price for Nintendo's Wii, but $249 is the current E3 rumor.

As for a final, concrete release date, Sony is committing to a November 17th launch date in the US and a November 11th launch date in Japan. Sony also pledged to have 2 million PS3's available during the launch window, but that supply will be for the global market; shortages are extremely likely. Sony plans to ship 4 million PS3s worldwide by the end of 2006, and 6 million by March 2007.

This PS3 pricing announcement capped an otherwise humdrum E3 media briefing; the only other surprise was the announcement that the PS3's controller would include gyroscopic sensors that will enable it to respond to movement, much like Nintendo's Wii.

    OUCH!!!

Yes, the more it costs the better. I'm going to buy one on launch day, and sell it for >$1,000.

Will the PS3 coming out make the PS2 go down even further in price?

Well done sony for pricing themselves out of the market. Bravo.

What makes the price interesting to me is that it's now priced at a place where you could actually realistically buy a PC for that kind of money, or more likely, upgrade an existing PC up to semi-gamer spec for today's games.

I know which I'd rather have.

Speaking of which, it's nice that they have more cars now, but I'm not convinced by the graphics at all. All they improved is 3D wheels, HDR, and some human bots doing stuffs around. And are those Grand Canyon screenshots supposed to be a joke?

Yeh, I agree. I dont really need a million people standing on the side watching my race, Id rather have better in car graphics, and they seem pretty much the same to me. Ive said this before, we want more tracks!!

At least we don't have to get Tourist Trophy 2 this time.

They seriously need to stop using low-definition car livers. And I'd love to see more polygons and reflections than this. If the current Vision Gran Turismo was to run on DirectX 9, I bet my PC would handle it in highest settings which is half of what Sony claimed in the beginning.

It's actually cheaper than I would've expected, well there's still time for many changes. How much was the 360 in USD on realease btw?
