    Team Ultimatecarpage.com Race 1: Barcelona

Tonight, the second ZAC (Sunday Night Championship) starts. The first of 12 races, after which we will see if Mark Kroesbergen (cup 400) and René Venderbosch (cup 600) will still have their titels.

The first race of the season is always very exciting, who's going to be fast, are the new rookies good, who is the underdog and most important, what is everybody's strategy?

This evening we will race on the well known circuit of Barcelona. A reasonable fast track, with numerous of long bends which will demand allot of the tires. The long straight will offer numerous of brake-overtake possibilitys, but then again, there should be plenty of options for other overtaking possibilitys

If we look at the testraces (we drive those every mon-wed-fri), then we will see that in the Cup 400 class (Porsche 911 GT3RS, Porsche 911 GT3RSR, Gillet Vertigo, Ferrari 360) the very strong team Kroda Porsche Racing, with title defender Mark Kroesbergen and Koos de Boer, will be the team to beat. Competition can be seen in team Roko Racing, and one of the underdogs, Team Ultimatecarpage.com.

With 12 cars in the cup 400 class, and 18 in the cup 600 class, the field is packed! After tonight, we will know how different proportions will be.

    The Track

    Race Time: 75 minutes
Track Conditions: tarmac 30 degrees celcius, dry

Team ucp Driver comments before the race:
    Jeroen Ursem
This is going to be a very intresting race, although i wont be competing for the first place. My main motto is going to be, to finish first, you first have to finish. Because i just started with GTR (about 500lap experience, but way more in other racegames), i'm not going to be fast, i just hope i wont make any mistakes, and overtake places because of my consistency.

    Goals:
    race pace: 1:48's
    qualifing position: 8th
    End position: Top 8

    Strategy:
    Soft Front tires
    Med Rear tires
    48 Liters of fuel
    Pit in lap 20

    Roy Visser
In testraces i have noticed that my race pace isnt that far away from the last seasons champion, so i hope that with consistency, and no errors, i can keep up, or overtake him. With my more experience (around 1250laps) i should be able to score good points for the team.

    Goals:
    race pace: 1:46.8**'s
    qualifing position: Top 5
    End position: Top 4

    Strategy:
    Soft Front tires
    Med Rear tires
    48 Liters of fuel
    Pit in lap 21

    RACE REPORT

What a race! Both cars have done very well, the qualifying results where as following:

    The Qualify
    1 Koos de Boer Porsche 911 GT3-RSR 1:43,838
    2 Mark Kroesbergen Porsche 911 GT3-RSR 1:44,716
    3 Koen Van Holsbeeke Porsche 911 GT3-RS 1:44,716
    4 Roy Visser Porsche 911 GT3-RS 1:45,150
    5 Robby Goedefroy Porsche 911 GT3-RS 1:45,792
    6 Jesper Mol Ferrari 360 Modena 1:46.354
    7 Jeroen Ursem Porsche 911 GT3-RS 1:46,873
    8 Kenneth Fikenscher Porsche 911 GT3-RSR DNQ
    9 Mathijs Twisk Porsche 911 GT3-RSR DNQ
10 Jaap-Jan Aardappel Gillet Vertigo DNQ
11 Mohammed Mazouz Ferrari 360 Modena DNQ

    A nice top 8 ranking!
Considering we both did it with our race setup, with only less fuel, we did very well. A Personall Best for Jeroen.

    The Race
    Roy Visser
After a very good start, i ended up right behind Koen (2), i kept on his tail, and after a couple of laps, he overtook Koos (1). The gap between me(3) and Koos(2) remained the same. Somewhere in lap 5, Koen made a mistake, and span out. Koos was number 1 again, and myself in second position. The gap between us was a steady 2 seconds, and my pace was faster, but i didnt want to stress my tires to much, so i settled my pace, and stayed behind Koos. Untill, somewhere in the middle of the race, one of the GT Diablo's made a mistake (he was behind the NGT cars already due to a start crash) and span out. He let Koos pass, and when i passed him, he felt the urge to go on the throttle, and pushed me off. So far good race Damaged and a little bit off pace, i went into the pit for my regular pitstop. When everybody had done his pitstop, i was positioned 2end just before Koen. Then a lousy mistake on my behalf, i watched to long in my rearview mirror to let a GT car pass, and missed my race point. Koen overtook me, and i was 3rd. From here on it was steady to the finish. Podium for me in the first race! Satisfied enough, although without that diablo, i would have finished second

    Jeroen Ursem
More then satisfied on my race, i look back to an interesting first couple off laps, with alot of mayhem, in which myself and the ruling champion had a constant fight. Untill i made a mistake in the chicane before T2 and lost my front bumper. This was about 1/3 of the race, Me and Roy took the decission for me, to tank fully, and repair the bumper, so i wouldnt lose to much time. This came out pretty good, because of some errors from the ruling champion, i came infront of him when he did his pitstop. This went on pretty long, till 5 laps for the end of the race, when i got the message Tires worn from the pit crew. I had to drop my pace, and let Mark pass, in order for me to even finish the race. Still happy thay i finished (points for that aswell) looking forward to the next race!

    Race Final Result
    1 Koos de Boer Porsche 911 GT3-RSR 42 01:17:39,358 2Lap(s)
    2 Koen Van Holsbeeke Porsche 911 GT3-RS 41 01:16:56,170 3Lap(s)
    3 Roy Visser Porsche 911 GT3-RS 41 01:17:08,415 3Lap(s)
    4 Robby Goedefroy Porsche 911 GT3-RS 40 01:16:35,844 4Lap(s)
    5 Mark Kroesbergen Porsche 911 GT3-RSR 39 01:16:38,298 5Lap(s)
    6 Jeroen Ursem Porsche 911 GT3-RS 39 01:16:52,119 5Lap(s)
The rest: DNF due to failures/damage

im confused does this guy really race? or what
He came dancing across the water
    With his galleons and guns
    Looking for the new world
In that palace in the sun
    On the shore lay Montezuma
With his cocoa leaves and pearls
