Would a front engine Lamborghini sell?

Ferrari had great success with the California.
While not as fast as most of mid-engine Ferraris, it sold well. And its much better for daily use.

So what you think about a front engine Lambo?
Some would say this is going backwards, since they had a huge success with the mid engine Miura.

On the other side, compared to Ferrari, Lambos are about insanity, pretty much like Dodge Vipers, and Corvettes.
Now that I mentioned Vipers and Corvettes, Being more expensive, and exotic a front engine Lambo must completely outrun them and that might not be easy. It would need a 10 Liter+ V-12 or even a V16 to be able to do so.

I think it would...I could imagine either a lower price Lambo, which was supposed to be Murcielago territory, or a 2+2 touring car.

Lamborghini started with front engined GT cars and originally their aim was to become the Audi of italian supercar makers. So I guess in that aspect, yes.

On the other hand, these days in the name of volume car manufacturers with prestigious names are attaching them to anything in order to sell and gain volume, and profits, and money. So in that aspect, yes too.

Lamborghini recently had the Esotque and at an older time, the Portofino concept.

I think it would be cool to have a Maserati Quattroporte competitor. The Quattroporte is not as pretty as it used to be.

The QP cut a nice figure when it first came out, but the styling has gotten a wee bit dated and boring since then.

I think front engine would be a good move for lamborghini. First they could start with an existing Audi platform, I'm thinking S5. Then unleash italian craziness on it.

the problem is that it might be too subdued for Lambo.

The old Maser has been replaced by new turbocharged eco-friendly model.

It even has a four wheel drive option, and an entry level version. It wil also probably get diesel power.

    Welcome to progress!

Well, a diesel would be interesting. It still has to be a Maserati though...

The short answer is 'yes, of course it would' and it would in no way go against the grain of the company, given their history of front-engined four seaters (and even a mid-engined four seater or two). Also it very much wouldn't need a giant engine or to be silly, as that is what the Aventadore is for. It should be a capable luxo GT, a la Aston Martins and such.

Be careful about mentioning Corvettes. If Lambo would do something like that, GM would copy their styling too

Honestly, that's what Ferruccio would have wanted. He was not about the wild track racers, he wanted a properly performing, very normal automobile which was refined, quiet, comfortable, and oh, by the way, quite a performer as well.

Diesel is a very bad idea. But if they want to sell more than three in Europe...

He wanted to destroy Ferrari by making a better Ferrari. But he wasn't very succesful...

I believe the Espada was front engined, very attractive vehicle. I see no good reason why the market would not accept a frt engined Lambo @ the right price point.
