Does Renault make engines for Nissan?

I was talking to a friend this morning and he told me that the enigine in the Nissan Platina is made by Renault:

I don't think it's true. Can anyone confirm if Renault makes any engine for this or any other Nissan?

Damn, that's news to me. I didn't know Renault was big or rich enough to buy a company like Nissan.

    1999, it's an "alliance"

of course an "alliance" where Ghosn was put in charge of Nissan by Renault to turn them around and who is now in charge at Renault

i remember reading somewhere that renault actually owns a majority share in nissan now. They bought some shares but not a majority in 99 when nissan was having trouble and started the alliance and helped turn them around by cutting the amount of models and engines to save money. thats why so many nissans use the vq now and why it was designed in the first place, to be used by many different vehicles. And then they decided to buy more, and now they own nissan b/c the bought a majority amount of stock. but that is just from what i remember, i may be wrong.

Honda is Acura, same reason they didn't include Infiniti, but no idea why they put Lexus in. Honda pwns because they don't even need alliances to keep them going. And what does Samsung have to do with cars?

Lexus is there. Acura was simply forgotten by whoever did the chart.
