Yup, here's some links about the virtual prototype:

I'd never heard of the SP2 before I saw the Autoblog article. I love learning about cars that I've never seen before, and the fact that the SP2 is really quite attractive is just icing on the cake.

The rear and side are great, the front, well the front is not as sportscar-like. I'd change a few things there!

The SP-2 was designed and manufactured by Volkswagen in Brazil between the years 1972 and 1976. The SP name refers to the state of Sao Paulo where is the factory of Volkswagen. Were made 02 versions of this car, called an SP-1 engine had 1584 cc and 65 hp and SP-2 with engine of 1678 cc and 75 hp. The most famous was the SP-2 due to engine power is greater. 10,825 cars were manufactured. Being 670 exported to Europe. An interesting detail was the height from the ground which was 1158mm, and lower than the Karmann-Ghia and Porsche 914.

When I was a kid, there was a SP 2 here in Germany in our town. That was about 28-30 years ago. I liked that car a lot and was always looking at it when it was parked near our street. It was white, and then repainted in red.
The front end looked a bit sleeker than in the above picture. (could be the way the picture was taken, or they had different lights) More like this.

One of my all-time favorite VW Brazil products. Lots of info and photos at the Samba for the curious. I like the Euro 411/412 headlights better on these, much cleaner and they bolt right on. Always thought 911 power and suspension mods could make one very interesting to own.

Too bad Rosa's SP-2 Concept is only that. Would love to see it built.

EDIT: Just a quick search yielded some interesting shots of these cars, and a couple of oddities. One was the photo of a Mangusta identified as an SP2, but at once I saw the resemblance. Wonder if VW Brazil's stylists copped some lines?
