New Vinyl Roof For My '76 Cadillac Limo (In Progress)

Had my '76 Cadillac Limousine detailed back in November. The person who did it recommended a place which does a good job installing vinyl roofs. Mine has needed one for a few years. It was white when I bought it and had it dyed black in Dec., 2004.

Before I had the car detailed, I cleaned out the garage so I could park it in there. It has been garaged since then (Nov.) so I figured it was time to have a new roof put on since I won't have to worry about the intense summer sun shining on the roof.

It is not quite done yet; maybe finished on Saturday.

    Here are some in-progress photos...

Photo #1 is a before photo. Easy to see it needs work done on the roof!
#2 shows the roof stripped of the old vinyl.
#3 shows in progress, and early stage.
#4 shows sample material before the work started.
#5 and #6 shows job almost completed; photos taken today.

The roof will be done in the correct material (cross-grain).

It's good to know that these cars are in the hands of someone who truely appreciates them!

Thanks. I do appreciate it the car. This July 9th, I will have owned it for 11 years.

After the roof is done, I am going to look for some landau bars to put on. I may have found a set already. Here is a photo of what the bars look like...

still, Vinyl is hip with the kids these days

Well, being a Cadillac limo of that size it was either used to haul around important officials, or the friends/family of the deceased.

The vinyl roof is completed. I drove the limo home today. It does look much better with a new roof; looks like a proper limo now.

Here are before and after photos. A repost of the before photo and an "after" photo I took a few hours ago. This car is garaged so the vinyl roof should last a long time.

    Looks good.
Didn't realise the vinyl extended on to the doors.
We never did that over here.

You still fitting the landau bars ??

    Yes, I think so.

Also does that on the Fleetwood Brougham series. Extends from the roof downward between the front and rear doors.

You still fitting the landau bars ??
Yes, I am. They have been shipped but did not arrive yet.

Looks great Fleet. Those landau bars will really add to it once you get them on.

I'm sure with that car in your care... It will out live all of us

Thanks, Equinox. Yeah, I hope the cars lasts a long time.

Here is something I found amusing. From the Internet Movie Car Database.
A '72 limo (in a chase scene?) burning some rubber. It sure looks strange to see a limo doing that! They can do it, though, assuming the engine is in good condition and in proper tune.

Looks killer, Fleet. Jesus that's a big car! BTW, be careful responding to your new pal above which appears to be a stealth spam source:

Hey grey, PICS or your post is worthless. Eggnogg required, proof it's your car. Write UCP on a sheet of paper, slip it over the shift lever.

    Thanks for the warning, csl.
I just drove the limo yesterday and Thursday. The radio is now working properly (hasn't for a few years). It has the optional rear controls, so it's interesting to operate both the front and rear ones (not at the same time). Here is a photo of the rear controls.
