I've driven a 2.0 Turbo Estate many times. That car was amazingly fast and very comfortable. I also loves the sound of the engine.
That car is in another dimension. It has more power and it's made to drive fast. I like the colour too.
The only issue is the consumption. They're thirsty!
    Congrats.

I'm very jealous of you. Red Paint, T-5R, and Manual, that's exactly what i wanted. However my parents ended up getting Black (which I also like), just the plain Turbo not the R, and auto. Oh well i still love the car and it was a good deal I thought. It is a very nice comfortable ride and I love the acceleration. Enjoy it!

EDIT: the sport button is alot of fun

Yum, I do love Volvo's. Back in '99 before we bought the first Audi, we looked at a new red V70R, I loved it, especially the noise and the fact that the numberplate was T*** TOM! Shame we didn't get it, my mate over the roads Mum has a '98 V70 SE 2.5 Auto, drives like a maniac, literally hundreds of silver V70's around here, I love them.
    Great buy.

Nice car, I've always considered it to be one of, if not the best looking Volvos around.

They used to be used as police cars in the UK, so they must be a little bit quick.

We have fleets of V70 T5's in our Traffic Cop Units around my area on the W. Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire border. As well as a few RangeRovers and Merc E-Class Estates

So, thread resurrection. This car was given to my Dad at easter in '09 because I wasn't driving it enough (I had moved to inner Sydney) and he loaned me the money for it. So we drove it down to Melbourne and he had it for a while. Some years later ('11? '12?) he sold it to Mum who with her partner kept it as a spare vehicle because they often had poeple coming to visit and it was useful to have. Since I moved back to Perth last year, I've been using it as a daily (ish..) because I don't really want to commute in the Alfa or on a bike when it's super hot or rainey.

    Phew.

It's just now gotten the point that it's probably going to need a pile of money put in it to really make it worthwhile, which is not going to happen. So it's likely that it'll be moved on very shortly. It's currently at the mechanics probably having the heater bypassed, because it's pouring coolant vapour into the vents whenever it's on. Not a great look.. because I can't see through the windscreen unless I constantly wipe it off. So that's a shame, but that's what happens.

I hate it when cars break down, but each part has their own lifespan. The 1983 Accord we have has a power steering leak, which I think my dad tried to patch, but this is a 30+ year old car, the lines are going to be very old.

I get attached to my family's cars, I don't know what I'll do when the Accord oxidizes into a pile of rust.

Sorry to hear that about your Volvo.

I can't be bothered starting a new thread, but the replacement vehicle is a '08 Subaru Liberty (Legacy) GT B Spec (2.5 turbo, 6-sp manual).

Congratulations on the purchase! Wagon or sedan, and what color is it?

Make sure you post some pictures too.

Sorry for the excitement, I'm on a bit of a Subaru binge right now.

My cousin had one, it's still the fastest car I've ever been in (granted, I haven't sat in many cars, let alone sports cars).
