    - XENATEC Coupé -
based upon the Maybach 57 S

XENATEC is pleased to announce the launch of the XENATEC Coupé built by the Karosserie Manufaktur Weinsberg - a division of XENATEC Group - in cooperation with Maybach.

Created in 2002, the Maybach is undoubtedly one of the finest cars ever built. A powerful combination of state of the art technology, superior driving performance and opulent use of the finest materials places the Maybach in a league of its own.

Based upon the Maybach 57 S limousine, this dynamic interpretation of driver-oriented luxury sets new standards in terms of exclusivity – a very limited number of the XENATEC Coupé will be built by hand in Germany for discerning clients worldwide, and will be offered at an ex-works price of € 675,000 excluding local taxes.

The XENATEC Coupé was designed by Fredrik Burchhardt, creator of the dramatic Exelero (a joint Fulda Tyre Company/Maybach project in 2004-2005), to surpass the highest expectations - fulfilling the needs of those who prefer to savour the Maybach experience from the driver’s seat, enjoying the thrill of being at the helm of a high-performance flagship for the discerning connoisseur. A technical masterpiece offering uncompromised comfort together with ample space and superior agility.

The evolution from limousine to coupé has involved major changes to bodywork and interior, but none to the drivetrain - and to the already impressive performance - of the Maybach 57 S upon which the XENATEC Coupé is based.

Compared to the Maybach 57 S limousine, major changes have been also made to the immensely strong bodywork, which has been completely redesigned and engineered and features new doors with frameless sidescreens allowing for easy access to the rear passenger compartment.

The windscreen and rear screen are more steeply raked for a sporty silhouette, lowering the roofline without compromising passenger comfort. A full glass roof can be fitted if desired, as can almost all other options available for the Maybach 57 S.

The doors and side panels as well as the front and rear fenders are new, as are the front and rear bumpers. Rear track is increased by 20 mm, and the standard 20-inch wheels allow for a marvellously supple ride whilst the optional 21-inch wheels sharpen handling to sports car levels - bringing the Maybach experience to the driver’s seat.

Despite being one of the most luxurous and expensive cars in the world the Maybach has never meant something to me. Just a very dull big saloon.

This coupe conversion looks much better, especially in combination with the wheels and the classy black paint. Not too sure about the silver part in the front bumper though.

By all means this looks like a huge improvement over the original if you ask me.

Modern Maybach has yet to make anything that isn't just a Merc with a few more cubits of wheelbase. They are truly for the rich and classless.

Looks nice all around, just not nice enough to justify being nearly $600,000 more than a CL. I'll take the CL and use the rest to buy a house, which I can actually go to the bathroom in.

The Maybach Coupe: for the chauffeur who didn't feel holding a door open was enough and can now fold a seat forward to let their tasteless passengers awkwardly get in.

The design is very clean and integrated. However, I'll still take the 57 S.

Having sat in a 57 S before, I'd say its a little more than just "a Merc with a few more cubits of wheelbase". I agree that Maybachs lack class though; however, they might just be a little bit more discreet than a Rolls?

Rolls and Maybach lack class, or have generally been associated with the stupendously wealthy classless? Also not at all sure how
either make (at $5-600,000 and up) could be "discreet". That market only looks for discretion in private affairs and finances.

These cars are no different than any Ferrari, Lambo, Spyker, Koenigsegg, etc., etc., and are anything but discreet for a reason.

I wouldn't consider Maybach tasteless. They are simply too understated in many ways... the mechanic qualities are very good, but they simply look too much like big S-Classes which makes it hard to justify the price in the eye of the buyer.

I hate Maybachs. Just gaudy cars for people who think they are too classy to buy a Rolls Royce, but aren't.

I remember reading in top gear earlier this year, thta their value drops by over 1000 quid every week. Clarkson kindly put it "You might as well wake up every morning and put 150 quid in the disposal."

(I'm sorry if I quote Clarkson alot, he does say some very memorable shit. )

Maybach 57S Coupe by Xenatec 2011

I visited Villa d'Este Concorso d'Eleganza last weekend. The classic cars impressed me a lot. But outside the show I was also impressed by a visitor's car: a Maybach 57SC~

It is interesting that this car has only Maybach badges, because the Xenatec show car at Geneva Motor Show has no Maybach logos.

I took a lot of shots. I hope you enjoy them.
