    Spyker possibly sold.

Private equity firms are sketchy...they always think they can turn a buck in businesses they know little about.

"According to a report by the Financial Times, Spyker Cars has been offloaded to a Connecticut-based private equity firm after a deal to sell the supercar manufacturer to another set of investors failed a few months back.

North Street Capital, LP is the supposed new owner of Spyker, which Saab had been attempting to sell earlier this year. Negotiations were originally being hashed out between Saab and a partnership between a British and Russian consortium and Vladimir Antonov, which just recently announced plans to build a modern interpretation of the Jensen Interceptor.

As of today (9/28/2011), the terms of the deal haven't been released by either Saab or North Street Capital. Clearly though, considering how cash-strapped the company is, Saab is in desperate need of a funding infusion. We'll update this post with more details as they become available. "

Sketchy indeed is the right word:

Until we are informed that that Swedish Automobile is no longer willing to discuss the Spyker sale, we are still keen to progress our proposed acquisition.”

If Spyker is acquired by another entity, CPP will continue to offer its support in future engineering programmes, body and chassis production, and final trim and assembly of Spyker models. CPP has unique knowledge and experience of the current model line-up, and its purpose-built assembly facility in Coventry is ready to immediately 'switch on' production of the new flagship Spyker C8 Aileron supercar.

CPP recently announced plans to consolidate its operations at an all-new Browns Lane, Coventry engineering and production facility from 2014. Whether or not CPP concludes its acquisition of Spyker or remains the production and assembly partner for Spyker under different ownership, CPP’s Browns Lane redevelopment plans will be unaffected. The proposed new vehicle assembly facility – one of a number of CPP operations to be consolidated at the Browns Lane site from 2014 – will produce the fully-homologated road-going variant of the next generation all-terrain supercar, the Bowler EXR, and the recently-announced new Jensen Interceptor. CPP is also in advanced stages of discussions regarding further ultra-low volume vehicle engineering and production projects.

Didn't Spyker want to buy Saab? So Saab was bought by Spyker and now Saab's just kicking Spyker out? interesting

I just don't understand how Spyker can have so many financial issues, even though they build some of the greatest looking cars in the world.

Exactly, because good looking cars is all you need to turn a huge profit.

Try explaining that to Alfa Romeo.

Speakers had one of the most beautiful car interiors ever IMO. I just hope that the Russians stay away from spyker. Look at what happened to TVR and smolensky's destruction of the car. He even changed the TVR logo.
