True, and he was hired by, uhhh, oh yeah, people paid even more millions to manage a teams and have expectations laid upon them.
With all of the talent out there, apparently, Fisi was deemed either the best available, or the best at that price, or...or...or...what?
Most think that whomever is there is only to keep Massa's seat warm, and WHAT OTHER ACTIVE AND CURRENT F1 DRIVER was available? Maybe Rubens could be lured from Brawn? We can start a poll to see who WE think should take the thankless second seat at Ferrari for the next 5 races.....
Just for the record my comment about the slowness was for Badoer, not Fisichella.

If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.
(Ted Joans)
granted he was pretty slow in the race, but he has not driven the 2009 car, he has not raced for 10 years. His ability as a tester is valued on his ability to translate what the car is doing to the engineers to lead parts development or tire development. He is no Schumacher, but Schumacher certain holds him in high regard since he calls him sometimes in the past on race weekend to discuss tire selection and setup....

They shouldnt have picked either, they wouldve done much better with someone like Piquet or Bourdais.

I was dead serious. Bourdais was heavily rumoured to be in with a shot due to his manager for a start. Either way, any recent driver wouldve been in a much better position to perform than a driver who hasnt raced in F1 since '99 or one that, despite the LeMans win, hasnt raced F1 since '04.
I am the Stig
Bourdais I'm ok with, but Piquet over Fisi... I don't know. Nelsinho had a second contract with the FIA for mowing the grass on race day using the Renault

do want
Well Fisi's only come into the frame recently, perhaps as a result of Massa's scans showing he cant come back until 2010.
I am the Stig
As I mentioned, both Piquet and Bourdais can be linked to stick around permanantly, and Ferrari don't want to be seen by Massa as shopping around for his replacement. Psychologically they are picking the drivers that can't be seen as a threat to Massa's seat...and maybe even Alonso's....
